Bruce Lord shows off the Kayakalakeaday shore lunch. NOT!

2009
I was surprised to see this huge ship so close to the shoreline. Mike's photo made me think of posting this pic. Curt said the ships lay up like this to avoid inclimate weather conditions.
Brent and friends remove the harbor buoys from the two inches of ice. The ice was no match for the massive aluminum icebreaker with its 1960s Johnson engine and the able bodied crew.
This was the 2nd to last ferry trip. 14 degrees in the am in Cheboygan. The boat rammed the ice cover several times to break enough room for the 180 degree turn.

This is the ditch on the east side of the road. After weeks of rain, note the non-existent run-off. If no ditches had been trenched, the water in this area would have gently run across the road over a distance of a 1000' or so, onto a dozen pieces of property. As it is now, the ditches funnel the water onto two private properties with no outlet. What great engineering. What a waste of tax dollars.
This puddle is overflow from the ditch, running west to east.
Looking South. The "ditch" is to the far right of this overflow.
I came across this incredible creature near my cabin. I took 30 closeup pics of this unbelievable living chunk of flesh!!
