This was my dad at the family cabin in the mid 50's. They spent alot of summers at the cabin and dad spent most his time fishing on Twin Lakes...

The two birch bark houses as they were in a 1971 news article. They were built by Rev. Paul Ziegler in 1903 - 1905. At the same time, he was also involved in the construction of the nearby church.

This probably was drawn up for Seth Turner and is Lakeview Highland Subdivision It shows the Boulevard going to the lake, but this version was never officially recorded. Probably made between 1920 and 1925. The official recorded plat also shows the boulevard going to the lake and was approved in 1925.

This was in a magazine article about the island called "The Other BobLo".
This is scanned from 22 year old newsprint paper, so the quality is not too good. I think it is a good picture of Glenn though.

This boat ran an opposite schedule to Plaunt's Ada M. When you came over you would always see the other boat going in the opposite direction. Some called it the Black Bois. It was all wood.
Thanks to Victor Babcock for the picture, and his sons, Mark & Tony, for preserving it.

This picture was taken by Fay Calkins after the E. H. Stafford lumber company had left Sand Bay and people had moved into the abandoned buildings. That was around 1920. I have located the spot where the locomotive sat.

Looks like they were frying up some fish on the open air wood stove.

Pretty grainy picture, but better then nothing. this was supplied by my mother, Betty Jane (Calkins) White.
