Iris versicolor - when looking real close at the big lips (sepals) you will see that they are bumpy with no hairs in the yellow area. It's called wild blue flag by the herbarium people. Another iris, that is almost identical, Iris virginica, or southern blue flag, has finely hairy sepals (lips) about the thickness of the sepal. On BBI I have found only I. versicolor. M. White
