Random Pictures
Normal summer day down at the old dock, kids & dogs.
Goldfinches usually migrate south. The northern limit for wintering is central lower Michigan. These are beyond the normal northern limit. They are eating thistle. In the spring they will molt and get that golden look back.
JEE having a great time indeed!
Also called Garden Forget-me-not. It grows in damp to dry open areas. It blooms in the spring with flowers that vary from near white to pink to purple. Very common. [M. sylvatica] Compare to the True or Water Forget-me-not posted in late September.

Found on the rocks of the old dock at Sand Bay.
Not a good picture, but is will do. Found at the "T" of firetower and North shore roads. This species flowers earlier then the others previously shown. I believe I took this picture in May.
Thanks to Rheinhardt for one of our most memorable days of the summer, spent out at the lighthouse. What an amazing experience it was!
The bastard's roots suck juice from other plants. these flowers are 4mm wide (3/16") and the plant is 3 to 4 inches tall in the colony I found. Before the flowers open, they look like a bunch of little white balls. Also, the flower has no petals. What you see are the sepals.

Announcement: Fun Day 2010? Maybe not?
Posted: Conis @ Mon Mar 29, 2010 8:48 am
Cindy Riker has asked this post be moved to the front page.

As of right now, there are no plans to have a Fun Day in 2010. We do not have anyone that has volunteered to be the chairperson. Anyone interested contact Graham Whipple, Lani White, Cheryl Gahn or Cindy Riker.
