Not it really isn't all that bad is you fry the hell out of it, Doubt it is any worse diet wise) or fattier than bacon.

Ramun noodles, oatmeal and brown rice make me puke. Been there, done that.

Hmmm. Never heard of Hebrew National. They make them out of pigs?

I heard spam light was pretty good. They cut back on the coons and added more possum. Slides down a little easier.

I Did not have to eat spam as a steady diet and never ate R.noodles before until a friend on the island invited me for lunch one day ..she put extra veggies in it and it was really good ....back in the 70's ... never bought it ..until a few years ago ..the kids like it but do not let them have it very ofton ...
Ate lots of oatmeal and still love it ...

never heard of that brand of hotdogs ..I will try to see if I can find some here ..

I do not eat hotdogs ..

I went looking for spam in our cupboards as my hubby buys it ..did not find it but found Armour Treet ..I do not like it either ..
here is what it is made of ...
Mechanically Separated chicken ..pork..salt..corn syrup..contains 2%or less of Modifred corn starch, sugar,.baked virgnia ham seasoning ( sugar, brown sugar, hydrolyzed corn soy wheat gluten proteins, partially hydogenated soybean oil, smoke flavored barley malt flour natural flavors) sodium eythorbate, sodium nitrite, sodium tripolyphate contains soy, wheat

My winnie is on a special diet from the vet as she has a heart problem ..this is what is in her canned food ...
water, chicken, ground whole grains, rice corn, pork liver, chicken fat(preserved with mixed tocopherols and citric acid) sucrose, chicken liver flaver potassium citrate, calcim carbonate, potassium chloride, choline chloride, vitamin E , taurine, magnesium oxide, l-typtophan, ascorbic (source of vitamin C) L-Carnitine,zinc oxide thiamine mononite, ferrous sulfate, beta- carotene, niacin, calcium pantothenate, vitamin B 12 supplement, manganous oxide, copper sulfate, pyridoxine hydrochloride, Biotin, vitamin D3 supplement, Riboflavin, calcium iodate, Folic acid. sodium selenite

I do not know how diffrent TREET is then spam but I have changed my mind about not eating Dog food ...I much rather eat winnies dog Food then Treet !! ..I will look up what Spam has in it ..I did not think about looking it up here on the computer .......

The dog food is Hills Prescription diet H/D ..

"the coon"is starting to sound better all the time !!! not all the junk in it as the treet is ..Treet is in a can like spam and is called luncheon loaf ....I do not eat luncheon meat either !!
now if that was all I had I would and who knows I might have too some day soon but I may be hunting COON instead !! !! HA Ha

What am I supposed to check out? Walmart is selling canned coon?

At least Kosher meat has some shreds of integrity. I still question what is in the feed.

I buy my meat locally, from the Amish and neighbors that have the same concerns I do. They don't use commercial feed full of chemicals and god knows what. I am "pooled" with some neighbors for 1/4 beef and pig, this fall. Clean meat at half the price. Have to wrap it myself when it come back from the butcher. Oh well. Vaccume seal it and it will be fresh for a year.

Most people wouldn't pay the high price for organic/commercially grown pork or beef. I am lucky only that I live in the country and many neighbors hobby farm a couple of cattle, a few pigs and chickens for personal consumption. Ante in to costs involved.

WOW, this is starting to sound like socialism? Neighbors helping each other and working together?

Coons and other wild game are a resource... and probably a hell of a lot healthier for you than hormone injected commercially raised poultry, pork or beef.

I used to buy 1/4 steer and 1/2 pig from my vet that raised them. at least I figured they were healthy before they were butchered...

but wild game being alot healthier??? what about wasting disease with deer, rabies with coons and squirrels?? and what do THEY eat? I'll pass on the wild thing!! I remember my grandma used to fry up squirrel. UGH.just like chicken (Hee Hee) of course in the depression she used to eat lard sandwiches. (probably why she died young).

what makes me hurl is TUNA - smells and looks like cat food - yuk.

The problem with the expensive pet food is just that...it is expensive. And the only kind that looks palatable!!! But if you can afford to eat the good pet food, you can afford people food.!!! Although it probably is healthier!!

So are dogs free of high blood pressure, etc, because of the food they eat or because of their motto: If you can't eat it, lick it or hump it, piss on it and walk away...?????????????????

Well, the quality of coons being food was what was under discussion.

Generally, I would say yes but only in the context of what they "normally" eat. If a deer is eating corn which has been sprayed with insecticides? Then you have a point except to say that same corn could be used as livestock feed? Venison and elk has far less cloesterol (sp) than chicken. To date, there has been once case of chronic wasting disease in Michigan, in a pen raised animal. For the most part, it is possible to tell if an animal is healthy or not, when it is field dressed.

Like you buying beef/pork from your vet, The hobby farmers around here are feeding uncontaminated feed they have grown themselves. Amish in particular. Worst case is you will still be better off than "meat made at Kroger". Coons, dog food, cat food, tuna are all better than that.
