I'm still in the process of installing upgrades. The homepage will return to it's previous state soon.

hey Rob,

2 notes,

as I looked for a good spot to comment about the most recent poll (see below) I noticed a moderator subtopic, you may want to make that private to moderators only,

also, while I'm sure the numbers will change,
but with 10 people who don't use chat and 1 who does,
does that mean that they're chatting with themselves?

I will expect Conis to comment since he's snowed in!

Mike

Can we make it so the calendar is viewed when you want it instead of every time you change pages? I make it go away and it keeps coming back.. Just getting started navigating around... Going to try a pic upload next.. Smile

Well, I uploaded and was successful.. A thought.. Is it possible to let people know there are new images on the home page? This is great, Rob! Thanks for all your work and hours.. Oh! Forgot for a sec.. If people want green instead of blue you can change that in your profile.. Smile

Yes, you can change to the earth tone style in your profile. Also, at the end of your profile you can change your calendar settings. Currently, you can switch the the calendar row off and the link will remain to display it if you'd like. That would be a nice option to display it only on the portal page.

It is possible to display recent pic's on the portal page. I just haven't had a chance to do it yet. When I did it on another board I run it broke the album, so I'm a little hesitant. Sad

Thanks for testing. I'm sorry about your (and your sisters) personal albums, I haven't figured out how to get it back.

In the future, I plan on making a different different header for the top of the portal page. I could change things so that the calendar row only shows on the top of the portal page and is not avalable on the index page. Any feed back on that idea?

I like the option to go to it from anywhere.. The up/down button at the top/right and the link at the top and to enter entries as well is a breeze to use and a very useful tool! I set the calendar in my profile as suggested and I like it not popping up there all the time.. Thanks for the heads up.. I haven't checked out alll the features in the albums yet.. Looks like fun stuff though.. I do see we have a spot for personal albums to fill though, and appreciate the space.. I'll try to git some new stuff up soon.. Hope everyone is taking an opportunity to try things out and spark the site up a bit.. The old shots on the home page are great.. Does the program have an option to rotate pics on the homepage? Great spot for the Winners Album.. Smile

Is the calander fully functional? List an event? How?

National Aardvark week is coming up and I want to be sure it isn't overlooked.

When you start a new post, it is at the bottom of the screen, sandwiched between the text entry box and the poll creation section. The calendar is a little funky, I'm not sure if I like it or not. We'll see how it works out.

I totally forgot about Nat. Aardvark Week, glad you remembered it.

Rob... suggestion as long as you are into the guts of this monster...

At the left of each post is a link " back to top"... I figure it is about useless since everyone has read dwon through the thread to the bottom.

Could that link more suitably take them "home page" or to the forum index or either? Maybe more practical as far as navigation?

Believe it or not, I'd never noticed that feature until you just mentioned it. It would be handy to have a link back to the home page (portal.php). What is it that makes you want to go back to the home page after reading a post, the recent topics scroll? That's what it is for me.

I think maybe it is recent topics... so maybe that ought to be the link? I hit the site, look at the RHside scroll widget and recent topics and go from there. Done with one thread and back to where I was, recent topics which requires back to top> home> recent topics or back out by page by page to where I started from.
