We'll be bringing a new batch of guests to the island during the last week of June. Again we'll be renting "History Ridge" out on Lime Kiln Point. This will be our third visit.

We'd like to take a day trip to Mackinac Island. Last time around, we kayaked there and back, but my wife is pregnant and we have a 2 year old boy now. So kayaking to Mack is out of the question. I know we can catch a plane from BB to Mack, but it's quite expensive. Would anyone with a boat be interested in taking our group over to Mackinac Island for the day? Of course we would all chip in for fuel, your time, etc.

Also, if you could give some recommendations for the following activities, we would really appreciate it.

  • some guests want to target practice, is there a shooting range on the island?
  • Good places to fish inland?
  • Library activities for kids (story time, etc.)?
  • Friend is bringing his quad, good trails?
  • Good hiking trails?
  • mountain bike trails?
  • anything else?

Can't wait! Very Happy

Very Happy Your Landlord should be able to answer most of your questions. Check with Brent Scharpe construction on the Boat issue.. Brent might be able to help you out.

Thanks for the boat contact Uncle Steve. I'll try contacting him shortly. I've heard there is a good spot for fossils near "Paul Bunyan's Balls"? Can anyone let us know where the heck this would be?

Nice, I like the name! A buddy is bringing his rock climbing gear too. He heard there was a few large climbable blocks of rock in the woods. Any chance you would know where this is? Very Happy

Very Happy There is the "Big Rock".. on the East end . No climbing gear required.. It's only 10x15 plus or minus..

There was some locally uncommon ferns growing on that boulder called a polypody. They have been pretty much scrubbed off by climbers. If left alone the ferns might recover, but I doubt if that will happen.
