Can someone provide an update on the status of construction at the airport. It was my understanding that an asphalt runway would be constructed this summer.
Thanks for any input you are abale to provide. _________________ Steve Coombs

I would also be interested in knowing if the runway will be lengthend by paving onto the existing displaced threshold and across the "old" airport road. |

Last I knew they were moving the road to accomodate the runway....That was last year. Seems it would be done by now. |

The existing road wasn't "moved," they made a new road which is very nice, and currently open. They even planted grass along the sides, which took quite nicely. My question is, when paving starts, will the existing displaced threshold (an area adjacent to the end of runway 10 where landings are not permitted, intended to give aircraft on final for that runway room to clear the trees) be paved and will the paving continue west across the "old" airport road. |

Which is what I meant by moved, in one location, now in another. |

My guess is that the old road would be paved over. Since the pavement is to allow larger planes to land, I'd think the larger planes would also need a longer runway.
Could the bugs be any worse!? I just got back from the island and have got a number of black fly welts as reminders. |

It has taken 5 years but has finally been started. Well, it looked more like some of the screen panels were taken down right before we arrived to give the impression that it had been started. Curt claims the real work will be starting TODAY. I really hope it is finished before we come back up in July cause with all of the porch furniture sitting in the living room, there just isn't any room to move around. |

Good luck with that.
Hey, I have been coming up to St Louis quit a bit lately. Maybe we could get together sometime and talk about the old days. |

Sounds like a good plan. I'm sure my sister would like to join in also. |
