I guess that's it, folks. (Sigh.) I guess Mackinaw City isn't too far, but I'm sure going to miss her.

Anyone heard plans for what the city will do with her dock space?

Look at the bright side...we get to see the NEW Mackinaw, which to me, is uuuuuuuugly. We'll get used to it.

I wonder if the Mack will use it's own power to move up the Mack City or if it will be towed. It would be fun to have a memorial cruise from Cheboygan up to Mackinaw City and maybe around Mack Island and such. The organization could sell tickets and have a dinner cruise as a fund raiser. I don't know if the organization has the resources to crew the Mack for the cruise, but that would be fun.

That does sound like a fun idea....I'd go if given the chance. But my guess is that liability would be a major issue for the Coast Guard.

I would think the "Save the Mack" organization would have possession at that point. They would have insurance in place for allowing people on board for museum tours. They may just need to add a rider for the cruise to Mack City.

The Mack will be towed to Mackinaw City, so there will not be a dinner cruise, but possibly a dinner at her new location.
