Hello to All: I would like to visit the Island in my motorhome. Are there good places to park for a few days? I wouldn't necessarily need any hookups for just a few days.
Thanks/Val

Hi Val,

There are no RV hookups on the Island. How big is your motor home? The reason I ask - the most likely parking/camping spot is on the Island's north shore, and there is not a lot of room to get a big vehicle parked and turned around up there. You travel up a narrow gravel road (Bible Road) to get to the campsite, which may or may not be occupied at any given time, and then have to make a rather sharp turn to get into the camp clearing. Going off the road more than a few feet in any other direction puts you into sand and loose gravel, and a big RV could easily get stuck. The road does continue beyond the campsite, but it deteriorates rapidly as you travel along the north shore... I wouldn't recommend taking a large 2-wheel-drive vehicle out that way.

There may be other places you could park for a short period, such as the public access points for the inland lakes. However, those can also be tough to navigate, if your RV is large and you have to turn around. All Island roads are unpaved, and only a few are well-maintained.

Hope that helps in some way...
Dan

I bring my 24 foot Class C and camp in it on the North Shore. You have to be careful going down Bible road and you can be sure of some brush hitting the sides, but it will work if your careful!

Val if you need a place for your mortor home and you can't find one let me know I do have a spot or two you can get to to camp. No hook ups and no charge just have a nice time and don't leave a mess. I have a home about 1/4 nile from the dock next to the store, with lots of properity.
