Hey,
Did the inland lakes freeze up yet??? With all this cold weather I'd like to get some late season ice fishing in!!! Man this new snow has been great... makes up for the hot Dec. and Jan.
Can't wait till next winter already... just 6 short months and we will be plowing, snowmobiling, and shoveling AGAIN!!!
GO SPARTANS!!!

Grin and bear it. I used my grill to burn meat for Easter. _________________ mwhite@wildblue.net

Signs of spring are gone lately due to the cold & snow. Sand Bay had become totally free of ice and the waves were lapping on the shore. Now look at it. Picture is not a fake!

What a change !!
We have been getting some cold weather after the 80's and 90 one day ...
we can use our fireplace again .. we did all last weekend ....
it was 51 today ..I know that does not seem cold but it is for here and we got down to the 30's ....
I would hate to think in 6 months you will be in snow again ..
not me never ..I hope .... |

Whoops...Isn't this April? Green grass, flowers popping up, birds singing? Bad sledding amongst the daffodils? _________________ Remember, half the people you know are below average. |

Snowing here-again. When will it be over? They say we will not get any accumulation, but it sure has added up in the last hour. Tonight rain and then again tomorrow we are suppose to get more snow. All my flowers are buried. |

Brown this am, White this afternoon. Blizzard in Bay City as I type.
We've all heard of "Indian Summer". Does this weather fall under the title of "Indian Winter"? _________________ "Don't it always seem to go that you don't know what you got 'till it's gone. |

Todays’s translated weather report: From the National Weather Service.
This morning through this afternoon: Profoundly nauseating coming from the east, changing to disgusting by midnight with mixed periods of intolerable.
Tomorrow: Continued periods of disgusting, nauseating and crappy eventually changing to incredibly sucky later in the day.
The weekend: Continued 50% sucky , 50% crappy, and 70% chance of intermittent suicidal through Saturday midnight, gradually changing to moderately intolerable by Sunday.
The week ahead: The rude and obscene front will pass through bringing unseasonably depressing but intermittently acceptable by comparison, for the next several days.
Long term forecast: Continue hiding in your basement until advised all clear.
Advisory: DO NOT (repeat) DO NOT attempt to look out your window. Doing so will cause irrepairable brain damage including dizziness, vomiting, memory and hair loss.

I am having such a fun time reading all of these posts ...
We had some cold weather too and even snow ..in the city...ft.worth got 3 inches .. one day this past winter it snowed and my grandson went out and made a snow ball and I put it in the frezzer to save for him ... so he now wants me to get it out now and again so he can feel it ..
yes we did get a diffrent winter this year but nothing for me to complain about ... I love the chilly days and the rain ..
We just had another storm .. the ole timmers said we would have one more ... so guess this is it ???
Its all so not like the cold I have lived in so there is not really much to say about it .. except we could use the fireplace which I love !!
I do wish for all of you the weather acts like it should at this time of year so all of you can start your warm season .. |

It seems that every year there is at least one spring snow storm. This year has brought two of them so far. I wonder if it is natures way of balancing out the warm beginning of winter? I suppose looking at average temperatures for the entire season, the statistics people will say that it was normal.
Here is a spring snow storm picture that was taken out my window. I'm sorry that the view is so impaired by the trees.

Is that a redwing black bird all puffed up in the tree? Poor chump.
Looking out my window this morning, watching the robins and other spring insect eating birds scrounging in 10" of snow for whatever they can scratch up.
Toughing it out. _________________ Remember, half the people you know are below average. |

I recall blizzards in end of April. Not all that unusual. In fact, when we hit the 70's... that a good indicator of what will follow. COLD-SNOW
In Michigan, Spring doesn't come until MAY.I also remember, that cold summer in the 80's, we had a killing frost on June 13 and another on August 4th. Kind of put a damper on the sweet corn, ya think?
What about the cherry blossoms? Trashed? Around here we have (had) a lot of trees budding and starting to blossom. The week of 70+ put everything in turbo _________________ Remember, half the people you know are below average. |

Mike, that is a great picture of the freighter anchored in Sand Bay. I think you should see about making some 8 x 10 or larger prints. I would definitely buy one and frame it. I am serious. |

Sweet cherries will be iffy.. Luckily the buds were just barely starting so that may protect them for a while.. |

I think this will really screw up the apple trees, especially mid-state south.
We had a cold snap last year, no acorns, beech nuts... zippo.
We have had a week plus of 17-22 degree nighttime lows. I would call that a little more than a frost?
Things supposed to improve over the weekend, back in 50-60 range by next week. Lets hope. _________________ Remember, half the people you know are below average. |

Listened to a "Master Gardener" program the other day here in Iowa - We've kinda had the same weather pattern - Got real warm and then we froze our a$$ off lately - They said that on fruit trees the early buds are for the leaves and they can freeze and come back and still leaf out - it's the later ones that get you, when the blossoms are starting to bud out - those won't probably make it - _________________ 47 years in a row driving 600 miles to get here!!! |
