I took my grandson fishing a lot this summer on twin lakes and caught a good number of Blue Gills a few large mouth Bass and a number of Pike. I caught the biggest pike that I have caught in a long time it was 12 and a 1/2 pounds 381/2". Serveral from 28" to 36" and a few that we threw back. This was the best fishinng in a long time on twin lakes. I also caught a few wallye the largest being 3 lbs.

Ron the salmon are just about to come into the river so my engery will switch to them. It might have to be a salmon fry. My wife loves the northern so they go fast. My grandson and I have just about finished the blue gill. I think one more dinner and they will be done. I have to say that my favorate is the northern also. As long as I clean them so I can get out the bones.

Kevin,

Grilled Northern is my hands down favorite, too. Used to catch some honkers on tip ups as a kid. You are right, getting the Y bones out without wasting the fillet is the trick. Nieghbor showed me the trick as a kid. I think I would rather have pike that walleye! In Canada, many locals consider Pike trash fish and use them to fertilize their gardens. What do they know?

Keep me posted on the salmon run! It's about time. Maybe another week or so. This cooler weather ought to start them up!

Kelly
No there isn't a river on the island. I was referring to the Cheboygan River.

Ron I will see what I can do. I went out last night for the first time and most of all my bates and fishing stuff was on the isl. I look pretty bare out there. 4 downriggers and 4 poles and 2 salmon bates no net, and my fish finder wasn't working. And I didn't even have a release, surprising.
