Scott You were way after electricity and as far as the airport you just think that is a snowmobile rase track. And they screwed up the good goose hunting.

I got one for you. What year did Island Telephone lay the cable to the island across the straits for phones, and who laid it?

I talked to Dad and he said that the Coast Guard had one around that time.
You can see some of the old area where the line went down by rocky road.

Tony I don't no if you were in grade school or not but it would have been close. Remember the company's name was Island Telephone and they supplied Bever and Bob-lo Isalnd.

BBiBABS/KEVIN!!!

Just because one is older that dirt and the other is older than the hills, you boyz don't need to prove your age. And who's idea was it to ruin the goose hunting to pave an air strip/raceway???

Island telephone, remember it like it was yesterday, you used to dial a number and then this really HOT operator would ask you for your number... I believe my really neat brother used to give someone elses # but why let the facts get in the way of a good story.
Tony I do remember when big brother broke that sauser, that was good stuff, but he didn't seem to wet his pants laughing like you and I.
How about the time you and Dwyne White wanted to see who could drive the fastest on a snowmobile and his seemed to roll about five times in front of the Community Building. That guy was funny and Joe White laughed his butt OFF...I think...

Folks, remember now, nothing happens in the winter on Bois Blanc Island. The snow falls and everyone huddles in their homes.

How about the snowmobile races. Anyone have storys to tell?

Maggie & Gene had a large generator between their house and Victor's. Its muffler was a 55 gal barrel buried in the ground and as someone has said they were used in the evening only except for one summer day.........Gene decided he wanted to watch the Tigers play one afternoon.
I heard the generator start and went to investigate thatís when he told me about the game. Maggie was not home at the time but before I went back inside I saw here returning then there were loud voices and shortly there after the generator stopped and Gene went back to work. I guess she was not into the Tigers as he was!

Every time I remember this story I can not help but chuckle.

Spatan-1
Who told you they paved the airstrip. I know that there is no way the Island people would waste that kind of money on something like that.
And by the way Kevin must be the one older that Hills.
Yes I do remember some one using other #ís but your brother told me it wasnít him. Just ask Dick Card.
If I remember right I donít believe your brother laughed at all after flying on his sled He really misted out on a good one.
I do miss Dwyne and his antics also. He was funny.
How about the time we were ice-skating on the ice hills in front of the Birch Shop and you went into the water on the other side. That was funny after we got you out.

I don't remember the island before electricity, but I remember it without electricity, seemed like alot at the time. And I have to say that I think bbibabs and spartan-1 are probably two of the funniest people I've ever read. I'll have you know I would probably be 6' 3" if it wasn't for that saucer.Dwayne's Silver Bullet looked just like that saucer by the time he got done with it. Those were the days

Alan is that you? I havenít heard from you in years. How are you?
Hay do you remember that M F machine you had. That was a lot of fun
to ride if it stated. I think we put more miles on the rope that the engine.
And that dog you had. What was his name? You know the one that wouldnít
come off the ice after chasing a deer. Also the one other dogs peed on. Now
that was funny.

Is this Tony Babcock? I hope you remember me, Duane White's older sister Mary Ellen. I was on the Island last Labor Day with my dad for a week, first time in forever. I found this website (by the way it's great). I was hoping to see you last summer, I hope to get back this year.

Yes sir mister laugh a minute. Boy, I had forgotten about alot of this stuff, but to this day I remember thinking how poorly I was going to stick that landing, and man was I right. And how many car hoods did we leave scattered all over the joint. And inner tubes from the tractors. It amazing any of us didn't end up with broken bones and what not.
That old mutt had more names than I can remember, none of which I could repeat in a public setting. As for the sled (MF) Joe lacross had it last I'd heard. Probably used it for an anchor. Between rope for the recoil and rope for towing it back home we must have gone through a mile of it.

Hi there Mary Ellen. I havenít seen you in years. Shore I remember you, youíre Deaneís OLDER sister (:>}. Let me know when you are going to the Island next summer and we will see if we can make it.
As for you Al, we had lots of good times didnít we. Like when we used to sky behind the snowmobiles and try to miss oncoming cars on the corners. Putting nails under Mrs. Andersons tires to get out of school. You know the good old days.

If I remember correctly, that whole tire thing didn't work out well. Skiing behind the sleds or piling as many people as we could on an inner tube and jumping the stone wall at Wallace's beach house. Nowadays you go to jail for lettin' your kids do such crazy stuff. Too bad they don't know what they missed. I stopped by mark's house a while back to see your folks when they were staying there. How are they doing?

Old Blue 72 HOW DO YOU DO!!!

Dang cousing...saw your picture this past weak...if you didn't have that Michigan of University TENT on I don't think I would have known who you were!!! YOUR poor children all dressed up in that Michigan University junk...I have ordered them nice, new, clean, TESSEL VESTS for the upcoming Football season!!!
How about that time when the 3 of us rented those movies from Kevin...Now that wasn't as funny as I thought it was going to be when the due date came up. I will never forget Kevin's S*#& eating grin on his face when we returned those. He will have one on me forever. Anyway, good times. And remember when Mark tried to kill that rabbit with the 410... by swinging the gun at it, and almost hit it. How bout the time you guys wanted to see if you could hit my hat in the air and missed...but shot the hell out of it when it hit the ground...COOL!!!
