Comments: The license lists NEC equipment that may be as old as 8 years, per other non-related FCC filings in 2003. At the meeting, they had indicated that there would be all new equipment deployed for the Broadband Stimulus project grant. A gigabit per second data rate is less likely to be achievable with the existing license (transmission bit rate, not the throughput rate). Perhaps Island Telephone Company will amend the existing license prior to TDS upgrading the radio. Or, perhaps they have already filed for a new license application or have filed an amendment which has not been [not visible to the public]. The 5 MHz bandwidth on the license could be a choking point. They could also deploy multiple radios, institute major compression, etc. in order to achieve a Gigabit per second microwave link. The 6 mile plus length of the path, precludes high frequency radios due to propagation characteristics. Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes
