ST. IGNACE, Mich. (AP) -- The U.S. Coast Guard says searchers have found the wreckage of a single-engine plane that crashed in northern Michigan, killing the two men on board.

The plane left St. Ignace in Michigan's Upper Peninsula on Saturday night, bound for Mackinac Island. The Coast Guard's Cleveland office says the plane failed to arrive as expected about 8 p.m. Saturday.

The Coast Guard says searchers found the wreckage Sunday afternoon on the Lake Huron shore, about three miles north of St. Ignace. The men on board have been identified as Tom Phillips and Joe Pann.

The Coast Guard says Phillips was in his 50s and Pann in his 20s. Both were from northern Michigan.

It was one of Fullerton's planes and Joe was the pilot. They crashed in a wooded area, near the shore, up near the casino, from what I can gather so far. It was overcast at the time.
If they had taken off from the runway going from east toward the west, they could have turned right, and circled in a clockwise direction to get to Mackinac. That could have put them over the area where they crashed. I am only speculating though.

Heard today from a Mackinac Island resident that the passenger was one of Bill Gates' right hand men

My brother in law and I flew with this pilot on that plane on Sunday and again on Thursday. My heart sank when I read this thread this morning. My condolences to the families and friends of these two men and also to Paul and his staff.

I flew over for deer season with Joe. Prayers out to the family of all. He sure seemed like a good pilot.
