I was practicing up for walking to town, back in December, by walking to Gull Island. It is now connected to Bois Blanc, at it's east end, by sand.

Are you saying the water levels are still receding or has it been that way since we lost so much water during the N. winds from hurricane Sandy?

The water just continually, and steadily, goes down. Sandy was only a temporary thing. Gull Island is not an island right now. It is a peninsula connected to Bois Blanc.

The water levels continue to track slightly below the levels of 1964. Early spring should give use a new, all time low, record. The Great Lakes normally drop through the winter and reach a low as spring arrives. Then the lakes will reach their high for the season in July, normally.

I remember back in the summer of 1965 we walked out to Gull Island on a sand bar ... There still was water in the bay .... How much is there now ?

I know this is heavy on all of our minds what it will be like in the spring for boat crossing .......
