You may want to check again......satlillight pictures show the open watter close to tree line.... #Mad

A picture tells the tale. East winds along with above freezing temperatures, caused open water to penetrate the ice bridge to a point beyond the treeline at it's western most point.
In the photo I will link here, you can also see dark ice on the south side of the channel. It is ice that broke up and refroze. Looking down from a plane yesterday, that area looks like a jigsaw puzzle with pieces about 20 feet in diameter.

I think it is too little cold too late. The cold has not refrozen the open water. And as I write we are in a prolonged warm spell again. ( March 8 ), and daylight savings time comes this week-end.

That made me realize that the sun is out for a lot longer now. someone did cross further west from possibly Freedom to Zela. Fullurton saw the tracks. Since that happened, the sun has been shining and penetrating the ice real good/bad.

It is still out there, but I think it a big risk to cross for no really good reason. Bite the bullet - take the plane.
