Well, it's been a little slow around here lately so here's a little conversation starter...

What's your alma mater? High school, college, school of hard knocks?

Okay, I'll start.

1984, Naperville Central High School, Naperville, IL

1988, Ferris State University, Big Rapids, MI
A.A.S. Autobody Repair
B.S. Automotive and Heavy Equipment Management

How 'bout you?

This is theeislandgirl ...

For those that do not know me .. I am the whites cousin ..now everyone knows who they are right ?????

I went to the Pines School for many years ...

I went to school with Glenda and Kevin Gibbions ... Roseann chuck and Mike Gahn .... Leanna char and curt Plaunt .... and
my brothers Dave vye and Lonnie ......they were 12 of us !!
my brother Lonnie Mike Gahn and Curt Plaunt started school the same year .... they were cute little guys and buzy and added alot of excitment to that little one room school house !!!

Our teachers when I was there were Laura Maud Mc Donald.. Su begle (for a short time) and Larry Dunbar ...

I am thankful that I had the opportunity to experience the Island and live there year around in my childhood years and then again after I was married ...

My children went to the little one room school house also ..
JoLinda ..Lonnie Todd and John-John ...
they went to school with ...My sister (she was there on and off) Duronda Twigg ...
Tony Babcock ...
Bill Marvin and Tina Gahn
Allen and Scott Gardner
did I miss anyone ????

We would have bible study at Roberta and Victor Babcocks every sunday like we used to do when I was young ... we would sit around the wood stove in the living room with the bight sun shinning in the big windows and the snow outside would glisten with the sun ... After the class the kids would grab a bite of goodies then run outside to play in the snow .. We Pat Gahn ... Jean Gardner .... Roberta and I would have tea and chat .. that was a big deal for us !!! It was happy times and I hope the bible class left a good impression on all the kids as it did me when I was there age ...

Oh ..the memories though the years .... riding to cheboygan in Ray plaunts snow bug as a kid ... skating on the ice out to the left of the pines Dock ... ( along ways left Wink ... just being a kid with no T.V. no Electric ... no running water ...no inside bathroom ... I know Char and I colored hours and hours away ... Roseann and I used to play in the woods with her little sister Clover tagging behind ...

Now that I have written all of this .... is this the place I should post this history ??? Question
Oh one more thing ... I will always remember how kind Pat Plaunts mother was to us after we lost our dad in 1957 .. she was called Nana by her Grandchildren Leanna char and curt ...

All for now ...

well guys it's like this:

Went 9 years to the Pines School on the Island. My mother went to this same school, as well as my son.
Graduated from High School in Cheboygan in 1972, and
got married in 1973. Been here and married ever since.
No college for me.

But I do have some very special, Island & Cheboygan memories, with theeislandgirl!!! You were my best friend!!!

Hi everyone. I have never posted to this site before; this seems about as good of a place to start as any. My name is Dave Coombs and I am fairly new to the island. My brothers and I bought some property south of Twin Lake. I graduated highschool from Southfield High (Detroit area) and college from U of M. I am a Naval Architect working in the Chicago area.

My family and I spent a week on the island in August. I can truly say it was the best week I have ever had on any vacation including all of the biggies like Disneyland etc. We are all truly lucky to have crossed paths with Boblo. I have met some of you and look forward to meeting the rest as time goes on. I will continue to read all of the posts on this site and contribute when appropriate.

Rob, you have done an incredible job with this site.

Islendbird, I live between North and South campus of Lyons Township High School in LaGrange. Small world isn't it?
That's all for now.

Wow, small world indeed! I don't think I had Cyr or Case. I did have Mr. Gaydos though, he used to play the Rolling Stones and what not for background music to write by. Smile I even had him for the one english class that I took at COD. The teachers I remember most are biology teacher Mrs. Staffeldt (a.k.a. Mrs Roper) and auto shop George Thompson (a.k.a the meanest, smallest lunchroom attendant on duty). What year did you graduate, if you don't mind me asking?
