the article forgot to mention the plethora of poisonous snakes, beetles, spiders and giant man-eating vampire bats. In addition, please be wary of the fish found in the lakes, as they may have eaten some of the snakes, beetles, spiders and man-eating vampire bats, thus growing into ginormous killer sharks that eat boats and boaters. The woods are filled with yetis, bigfoots and sasquatches and various other scary creatures unknown to man. And unfortunately, it rains on the island all day every day and the beaches are made of hot lava. It is a dangerous, unfriendly place...the article REALLY should have mentioned all that....what ever happened to responsible journalism?

I never heard of any of the inland lakes being non-motorized. You can use any kind of motor you want. I am sure the residents would like it to be as small and quiet as possible though.

Katie, you forgot to mention the giant beach flies.. On the Island the flies start small and almost invisible and keep getting bigger as the year rolls on til finally there is the Giant Beach Fly.. These buggers will drive you for cover in the water.. Problem is, they never let you out of the water.. You're stuck there til hunger or potential drowning become issues.. Mind you they bite hardest when you are wet! All you can do is madly dash for the screen porch, swatting and screeching all the way! Good luck on you visit Dave! Very Happy

Also forgot to mention the extent of the dust......... Plus fill up your car before you leave Cheboygan. Price of gas is outrageous.... (Some of us have to take our own vehicles)

price of gas is higher due to extra cost from gas company freight and lack of selling only a few gallons, maybe it would be better if the gas wasnt on island at all, now that would be outrageous//////
